1. About this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Educere collects, uses, shares, protects, and retains personal information when people visit the website, create learner accounts, book tutoring, buy or use courses, communicate with Educere, or participate in learning services. It also explains choices and rights available to learners, parents, guardians, and other visitors.
Educere is responsible for deciding why and how personal information is used for the services described here, except where a clearly identified provider acts independently. The final registered business name, business address, and jurisdiction-specific privacy contact are still being confirmed. Until those details are published, privacy requests should be sent through the Contact page.
This policy should be read with the Terms of Service, Refund Policy, and Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy. A specific feature may display an additional just-in-time notice before collecting information. That notice supplements this policy.
2. Our privacy commitments
Educere is designed as a learning service, not a data marketplace. We aim to collect information that is reasonably necessary for education, scheduling, account administration, payment, support, safety, and lawful business operations. We do not sell personal information for money. We do not intend to use children's information for behavioural advertising or disclose it for unrelated advertising.
Our operating principles are:
- explain data use in clear language and at a useful time;
- use high-privacy defaults for accounts likely to be used by minors;
- collect and retain no more information than reasonably needed;
- keep payment credentials with qualified payment providers where possible;
- limit access to people and providers with a legitimate operational need;
- give parents and learners appropriate visibility and choices; and
- review new features for privacy, safety, accessibility, and proportionality.
These commitments do not replace legal requirements. Where applicable privacy law provides stronger protection, that law controls.
3. Who this policy covers
This policy covers website visitors, prospective customers, adult learners, minor learners, parents and guardians, people who contact Educere, and individuals whose information is included in a learner's authorised submission. It applies to information processed through Educere's website, learning platform, booking tools, support channels, live-session tools, and authorised service providers.
It does not govern a third-party website or service that independently determines its own data use. For example, a payment provider, video-conferencing platform, or external examination body may have a separate privacy notice. Educere will identify required providers where practical, and users should review their notices before using those services.
If Educere provides a service through a school or another organisation under a separate agreement, that organisation may determine some uses of personal information. A separate institutional notice or contract may then apply in addition to this policy.
4. Information you provide
Account information may include a name, username, email address, password stored in protected form, account role, profile image, preferred language, country or region, and timezone. A parent or guardian may provide their own details and the learner's name, age range, educational level, goals, and relationship to the account.
Booking and purchase information may include the selected service, date and time, timezone, duration, price, currency, coupon, payment status, billing name, billing contact details, transaction reference, refund status, and scheduling history. Educere does not need or intend to receive a full payment-card number or card security code when an external payment provider handles the transaction.
Learning information may include course enrolments, lesson progress, quiz responses, assignments, feedback, attendance, certificates, messages, tutoring goals, notes relevant to instruction, accessibility requests, and resources shared during a session. Avoid submitting health, identity, financial, or other sensitive information unless it is necessary and Educere has requested an appropriate channel.
Communications may include contact-form submissions, support requests, complaints, refund explanations, survey responses, safety reports, and correspondence. If you communicate through a third-party platform, that platform may also process the message under its policy.
5. Information collected automatically
When you use the website, servers and security tools may automatically receive an internet-protocol address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, requested page, timestamps, approximate region derived from an address, cookie identifiers, session events, and diagnostic information. This information helps deliver pages, maintain sessions, prevent abuse, understand failures, and protect accounts.
The learning platform may record sign-in activity, course views, completion events, quiz attempts, video or resource access, booking changes, and administrative actions. These records support progress features, certificates, support, security, and dispute resolution.
Educere may use privacy-conscious analytics to understand broad site performance, such as which pages are visited and whether a checkout fails. Non-essential analytics or marketing technologies will be subject to consent where required. Precise location is not needed for ordinary Educere services and should not be collected through the website unless a future feature clearly explains a necessary purpose and choice.
6. Information from other sources
Educere may receive transaction status and limited billing information from a payment provider; meeting attendance or delivery status from a video platform; email-delivery events from a communications provider; security alerts from hosting or protection services; and account information from an authorised parent, guardian, school, or organisation.
If another person provides information about you, they must have authority to do so and should direct you to this policy. Parents and guardians should provide only information necessary to support the learner. Learners should not upload another person's work, image, contact details, or private communications without a lawful and educationally relevant reason.
Educere may obtain public information where reasonably necessary to verify an instructor qualification, protect intellectual property, investigate fraud, or respond to a legal claim. We do not build unrelated marketing profiles from purchased data lists.
7. Why we use personal information
We use account and identity information to register users, distinguish learners, manage access, personalise account displays, and respond to requests. We use booking and transaction information to show availability, reserve time, process payment, issue receipts, apply cancellation rules, provide refunds, and maintain financial records.
We use learning information to deliver lessons, track progress, provide feedback, issue certificates, recommend an appropriate learning path, and help learners continue where they stopped. We use communications to answer questions, resolve complaints, support accessibility, address safety concerns, and document decisions.
We use technical and security information to operate the site, maintain sessions, diagnose errors, prevent fraud, defend against attacks, enforce policies, and preserve service integrity. Aggregated or de-identified information may be used to improve courses and operations when it cannot reasonably identify an individual.
Where allowed, we may send service news or educational marketing to an adult customer who requested it or where another lawful basis applies. Each optional marketing message will offer an appropriate way to unsubscribe. We do not require a minor to accept marketing as a condition of learning.
8. Legal bases where applicable
Some privacy laws require Educere to identify a legal basis for each use. Contractual necessity may support creating an account, delivering a purchased course, administering a booking, and communicating about that service. Steps requested before a contract may support answering a sales question or preparing a booking.
Legal obligations may support tax and accounting records, lawful regulatory responses, consumer rights, and safeguarding disclosures. Legitimate interests may support proportionate security, fraud prevention, service improvement, complaint handling, and ordinary business administration, after considering the person's rights and reasonable expectations.
Consent may support optional marketing, non-essential cookies, a specific recording, or another use where a genuine choice is appropriate. Consent can be withdrawn for future processing, although withdrawal does not make earlier lawful activity unlawful. Vital interests or an equivalent emergency basis may support limited disclosure when necessary to protect life or safety.
The applicable basis depends on the service, location, age, and context. Educere will not rely on a basis that local law does not recognise and will provide additional notice when required.
9. Children and younger learners
Educere may serve school-age learners and therefore treats children's privacy as a core design requirement. A parent or guardian must create or approve an account and purchase for a learner who cannot legally consent or contract independently. Learners under 13 may not independently submit account or payment information.
We seek to use high-privacy defaults, collect only information needed for education and safety, avoid behavioural advertising, and keep location tracking off. A parent or guardian may ask to review, correct, download, or delete a child's information, subject to identity verification, educational needs, legal retention, and any capacity rights the child has under applicable law.
Educere will not encourage a child to disclose unnecessary information, weaken privacy settings, or continue using the service through manipulative prompts. Communications with minors should occur through approved learning channels and be visible to or reasonably accessible by an authorised parent where appropriate.
If we learn that a child provided personal information without required parental involvement, we will take reasonable steps to obtain authorisation, restrict the account, or delete the information. A parent who believes this occurred should contact Educere promptly.
10. Parent and guardian information
Educere processes a parent or guardian's name, contact details, billing details, relationship to the learner, consent choices, communications, and account actions. This information helps verify authority, administer purchases, communicate about learning, and support safety.
Parents should not share a child's full date of birth, government identifier, medical record, or school record unless a specific lawful need has been explained. An age band or school level is usually sufficient for course placement. When a learning adjustment is needed, provide the minimum information necessary to explain the adjustment rather than a complete medical history.
Educere may distinguish between decisions a parent can make and choices a mature learner can exercise under applicable law. We will consider the learner's age, capacity, safety, and legal rights rather than assuming a parent always overrides every privacy interest.
11. Live tutoring and session data
Live tutoring may involve names, voices, video images, chat, shared documents, attendance, and teaching notes. Learners can ask about camera requirements before booking. Where video is not educationally necessary, Educere may offer an appropriate alternative, subject to safety and identity needs.
Educere does not routinely record one-to-one tutoring. A session will be recorded only when a specific purpose is explained in advance, appropriate consent or another lawful basis is documented, access is limited, and a retention period is identified. A learner or parent may not independently record or use an automated transcription assistant without notice and required permission from everyone affected.
Instructors may keep concise notes about goals, material covered, progress, attendance, and follow-up. Notes should remain factual, relevant, respectful, and accessible only to authorised people. Highly sensitive details should not be recorded unless necessary for safety, accessibility, or a legal obligation.
12. Payment information
Payments may be handled through WiPay or another provider identified at checkout. The provider may collect card, bank, wallet, identity, device, and fraud-prevention information under its own privacy notice. Educere generally receives confirmation, amount, currency, payer or billing details, transaction reference, status, and limited risk information.
Educere does not intentionally store full card numbers or security codes. Payment providers and banks may act as independent controllers for fraud prevention, regulatory compliance, and payment-network obligations. Their retention and international transfers may differ from Educere's.
Transaction and refund records are retained as necessary for accounting, tax, consumer protection, fraud prevention, chargeback handling, and legal claims. Do not send payment credentials through the contact form, course messages, or tutoring chat.
13. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies and local storage may keep a user signed in, remember security choices, preserve a cart or booking step, store a selected timezone, and protect forms. These strictly necessary technologies support requested functions and may not offer an opt-out while the function is used.
Preference technologies may remember language or display choices. Analytics technologies may measure page performance and broad usage. Marketing technologies, if introduced, would require a clear purpose and appropriate consent where law requires it. Educere does not intend to enable targeted advertising based on children's activity.
Browser controls can delete or block cookies, but doing so may prevent sign-in, checkout, booking, or course progress from working. A future cookie panel will provide additional controls before non-essential technologies are enabled where required. This policy will be updated if the technology set materially changes.
14. When we share information
Educere may share personal information with providers that support hosting, content delivery, learning management, booking, video meetings, payments, email, customer support, analytics, security, backups, and professional advice. They receive only information reasonably needed for their function and should be bound by suitable privacy and security obligations where they act on Educere's behalf.
Information may be shared with an authorised parent, guardian, school, or purchasing organisation according to the account arrangement and law. Educere may disclose information to protect a person from serious harm, investigate fraud or abuse, enforce rights, comply with a lawful request, or establish or defend a legal claim.
If the Educere service or operating business is reorganised, financed, sold, or transferred, necessary information may be disclosed under confidentiality and due-diligence safeguards. Users will receive legally required notice before a new party uses information for materially different purposes.
Educere does not sell personal information for money and does not knowingly share children's information for cross-context behavioural advertising. If local law gives a broader meaning to sale or sharing, Educere will provide the required notice and choice before engaging in such activity.
15. International processing
Educere may serve learners in several countries and use providers whose systems or support teams are located outside a learner's country. A booking may involve a learner, instructor, hosting provider, payment processor, and video platform in different jurisdictions.
When law restricts international transfers, Educere will use an available safeguard such as an adequacy decision, approved contractual clauses, provider certification, consent where appropriate, or another lawful mechanism. We will also consider data minimisation, access controls, encryption in transit, and the practical protections offered by the provider.
No transfer mechanism can remove every difference between national laws. Users may contact Educere for available information about the safeguard relevant to a particular category of processing.
16. Retention
Educere retains personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the stated purpose, a legal obligation, safety, dispute resolution, or enforcement. Retention depends on the category, account status, course-access term, transaction law, complaint risk, and technical backup cycle.
Current operational targets are to keep active account and learning records for the service period and ordinarily no longer than 24 months after meaningful account inactivity, unless the learner requests earlier deletion or a longer period is justified. Contact enquiries that do not become customer relationships are ordinarily retained for up to 24 months. Routine technical logs are ordinarily retained for up to 12 months, with shorter periods preferred where practical. Backup copies should cycle out within approximately 90 days after deletion from active systems.
Financial, transaction, refund, and tax records may need to be retained for up to seven years or the period required by applicable law. Safety, fraud, complaint, and legal-claim records may be retained until the relevant limitation, investigation, or safeguarding need ends. Consent records and marketing suppression entries may be kept to demonstrate and respect choices.
These are maximum operational targets, not promises that every record is kept for the full period. Educere will delete, anonymise, or securely isolate information when the purpose ends. Final schedules will be reviewed against the confirmed operating jurisdiction.
17. Security
Educere uses organisational and technical measures intended to protect information against unauthorised access, loss, alteration, disclosure, and misuse. Measures may include access controls, unique accounts, protected passwords, software updates, encrypted transport, provider review, backups, logging, least-privilege administration, and incident response.
No website, email, video meeting, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Users should choose a strong unique password, protect devices, sign out of shared computers, verify unusual messages, and report suspected compromise. Educere will never request a password or full card number through ordinary email or chat.
If a personal-data breach creates a legally reportable risk, Educere will investigate, contain, document, and notify affected people and authorities as required. Notification may include what happened, likely effects, protective steps, and a contact channel.
18. Automated decisions and profiling
Educere does not currently intend to make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects solely through automated processing. Course progress indicators, placement suggestions, reminders, fraud signals, and recommended content may use rules or platform logic, but a person can review a material account, payment, safety, or educational decision.
If Educere later introduces significant automated decision-making, it will explain the logic in meaningful terms, the likely consequences, the applicable legal basis, and available human review before or when the feature is used. Children's information will not be used for profiling that is detrimental, opaque, or unrelated to learning and safety.
19. Your rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to know whether information is processed, access a copy, correct inaccuracies, delete information, restrict processing, object to certain uses, receive portable data, withdraw consent, and complain to a regulator. You may also have rights concerning automated decisions, marketing, or particular forms of sale or sharing.
Parents or guardians may exercise rights for a minor where law authorises them. A capable minor may also have independent rights. Educere may need to balance access against another person's privacy, legal privilege, safeguarding, examination integrity, or a record that law requires Educere to keep.
Submit a request through the Contact page and identify the account and requested action. Do not send extra identity documents unless Educere asks. We may verify identity and authority proportionately, clarify a broad request, and respond within the period required by law. Ordinary rights requests are free, although manifestly unfounded or excessive requests may be handled as local law permits.
20. Choices and account controls
You can update certain profile details in the account, choose whether to upload a profile image, manage optional communications, and request help correcting a booking or course record. Browser and device controls can manage cookies, permissions, camera, and microphone access.
You may unsubscribe from marketing without losing service messages necessary for an active account, purchase, or booking. You may request account deletion, but Educere may first need to cancel or transfer active bookings, address a balance, preserve a receipt, or separate a child's information from a parent's record.
Choosing not to provide required information may prevent Educere from creating an account, processing payment, confirming authority for a minor, or delivering a requested service. We will distinguish required fields from optional information where practical.
21. Complaints and regulators
Raise a privacy concern through the Contact page with enough detail to identify the issue. Educere will review the concern in good faith, prioritise safety and active misuse, and explain the outcome or next step where appropriate.
You may also complain to the privacy or data-protection authority with jurisdiction over you or Educere. If Educere operates from Jamaica, the Office of the Information Commissioner administers rights and obligations under Jamaica's Data Protection Act, 2020. People in other locations may have access to their local authority. Contacting Educere first may allow a quicker correction but is not required where law gives a direct right to complain.
22. Changes to this policy
Educere may update this policy when services, providers, legal requirements, or data practices change. The current page will show an updated date. Material changes will receive a prominent notice or direct communication where required, particularly if they affect children, recordings, marketing, international transfers, or the use of previously collected information.
We will not treat silence as consent where express consent is required. Earlier information will remain subject to the policy and law applicable when it was collected unless a lawful change applies.
23. Contact and identity details
Privacy requests, parental enquiries, security reports, and questions should be submitted through the Educere Contact page. Select the most relevant enquiry type and state that the message concerns privacy. Include a safe contact method and enough account context to locate the record. Never include a password, full card number, or unnecessary government identifier.
Educere will update this section with its verified legal entity name, business address, primary jurisdiction, and dedicated privacy contact after confirmation and legal review. Until then, the website Contact page is the official operational channel for privacy correspondence.
